In June of 2015, I was invited by the School of Foreign Languages at Jiangsu University in China to give an extended lecture for the school’s faculty. Drawn from Back to the Fifties, my talk entitled “Memory, Mourning, and Michael” focused on the use of Fifties nostalgia in the music videos of Michael Jackson.
