THATCamp bills itself as:
THATCamp, The Humanities And Technology Camp, is a free, open, interdisciplinary “unconference” where humanists and technologists meet to work together for the common good.
In the true spirit of THATCamp, THATCamp Philly will bring together a diverse group of academic and cultural heritage professionals who are interested in working together to build a strong, vital digital humanities community in the Philadelphia region. Participants will expand their skills, strengthen existing working relationships, and explore potential new partnerships in the interest of finding innovative ways to use technology for research, teaching, and learning in the humanities.
I attended the first Philadelphia-area THATCamp in 2011 as a Bootcamp participant (learning the basics of the publication platform OMEKA), then returned for workshops the following day. In 2012 I returned to THATCamp Philly and facilitated a workshop discussion called “Outside the Classroom, but On Campus” which centered around how universities and cultural institutions can use new media to facilitate campus culture outside the boundaries of a class meeting.
